Translations: The 613

613 Commandments. 29 Artists. One Extraordinary Conversation.

Translations: The 613 brings ancient Jewish wisdom into the contemporary art world at Current Arts Gallery in New York.

What happens when ancient Jewish teachings meet the imagination of today’s artists? The answer unfolds in Translations: The 613, a compelling exhibition presented by the Jewish Art Salon and Current Arts Gallery.

Featuring 29 contemporary American and Israeli artists, the exhibition offers fresh, provocative, and deeply personal interpretations of the 613 mitzvot, the commandments at the heart of Jewish tradition. Through contemporary artistic expression, these ancient teachings become a springboard for exploring identity, ethics, spirituality, justice, and the challenges of modern life.

Far from being a look backward, Translations: The 613 invites viewers into a vibrant conversation between past and present, tradition and innovation, faith and artistic freedom. Each work offers a unique perspective, challenging audiences to reconsider familiar ideas and discover unexpected connections between sacred teachings and contemporary experience.

The result is an exhibition that is as intellectually engaging as it is visually compelling—one that celebrates the power of art to question, reinterpret, and create new meaning across generations and cultures.

More than an exhibition, Translations: The 613 is an invitation to see tradition differently..
